Medicare Advantage Plans in Kentwood, MI, Walker, MI & Surrounding Areas
Things to Know About Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage plans, also known as Medicare Part C, are an alternative to Original Medicare (Parts A and B). Offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare, these plans bundle hospital, medical, and often prescription drug coverage into a single plan. Weadock & Associates LLC provides the same in Forest Hills, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Kentwood, MI, Walker, MI, Wyoming, MI and surrounding areas.
- Coverage Options
Medicare Advantage plans cover everything Original Medicare does and may include additional benefits such as vision, hearing, dental, fitness programs, and transportation. Many also offer prescription drug coverage (Part D).
- Plan Types
Common types include Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS), and Special Needs Plans (SNPs). Each type has different rules for accessing care and provider networks.
- Cost Structure
While most Medicare Advantage plans have low or even $0 premiums, you still must pay your Medicare Part B premium. Costs such as copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums vary by plan. These plans often cap your annual out-of-pocket spending, unlike Original Medicare.
- Provider Networks
Plans usually require you to use in-network doctors and hospitals. HMO plans typically require referrals to see specialists, while PPOs offer more flexibility at higher costs.
- Enrollment Periods
You can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan during your Initial Enrollment Period (when you first become eligible), the Annual Election Period (October 15 to December 7), or during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 to March 31).
- Plan Changes and Availability
Plans and coverage options can change yearly, and availability varies by location. It’s important to review your plan annually to ensure it still meets your needs.
- Prescription Drug Coverage
If your plan includes Part D, you cannot enroll in a separate standalone Part D plan. Be sure your prescriptions are covered before enrolling. If you need assistance, we’re just a phone call away.
